How to let customers pay by bank account (ACH)
Let customers pay invoices straight from a US bank account. Lower fees than cards, and you pay the small bank fee.
Customers can pay an invoice from their US bank account (ACH) as well as by card, on the same pay page. You need Stripe connected first. See How to connect Stripe.
Turn on bank payments
- In your Stripe dashboard, go to Settings › Payment methods and turn on ACH Direct Debit.
- In JobBills, press your initials (top right) and choose Billing.
- On the Bank account payments (ACH) card, check Let customers pay by bank account. JobBills checks that ACH Direct Debit is on in your Stripe account. Until it is, customers only see card.
What your customer sees
- The pay page shows Card and Bank account. The customer signs in to their bank or types the account and routing numbers.
- Bank payments take about 4 business days to clear. The invoice turns Paid by itself once Stripe confirms the money arrived.
- Invoices you already sent get the bank option too, the next time the customer opens the pay link.
Fees
You pay Stripe's bank fee: 0.8%, up to $5 per payment. The customer pays the invoice amount and nothing more. On a $1,000 invoice that's $5, compared with about $29 by card.
Note: If a bank payment fails (for example, not enough money in the account), the invoice stays unpaid and you can send it again.
