How to connect Stripe to get paid online

Let customers pay invoices and deposits by card or bank account, and save cards on file.

Who can do this: Business ownerUpdated Oct 25, 2026

JobBills uses Stripe for online payments. Money goes straight to your own Stripe account. Stripe's normal fees apply.

Connect

  1. Go to Settings → Billing.
  2. Press Connect with Stripe.
  3. Sign in to your Stripe account, or create a free one, and approve the connection.
  4. You're sent back to JobBills, and card payments are turned on.

Connecting Stripe doesn't notify your customers.

What it turns on

  • A Pay button on emailed invoices and in the customer portal.
  • Deposits on estimates by card.
  • Charge Card on File, Add a Card and One-Time Card on invoices.
  • Monthly or yearly subscriptions on client pages.

Stripe options stay hidden in JobBills until Stripe is connected.

Bank account payments (ACH)

On the Billing page, turn on Let customers pay by bank account:

  • Stripe's fee is 0.8% per bank payment, capped at $5. You pay the fee.
  • Bank payments take about 4 business days to clear. The invoice shows as paid once Stripe confirms it.
  • ACH Direct Debit must be turned on in your Stripe account (Settings → Payment methods).

Disconnect

Press Disconnect Stripe on the Billing page. Online payments and cards on file stop until you connect again.

Tip: Manage payouts, disputes and refunds in your Stripe Dashboard.
