How to put an account on test

Stop the central station from dispatching while you work on a system.

Who can do this: Techs and anyone assigned to the job (Alarm.com dealers)Updated Oct 25, 2026

Before you work on a system, put it on test so alarms you set off don't send the police or fire department.

From the job

  1. Open the service ticket.
  2. Pick how long, for example 1 hour, 4 hours or 1 day.
  3. Press Place Account on Test.

The ticket shows that the account is On test. When you're done, press Cancel on Test (or Remove from test).

From the client's page

The Alarm.com section shows Test status: On test or Not on test, with buttons to place it on test or remove it.

Warning: Always take the account off test when you leave. JobBills reminds you when you clock out if an account is still on test.
Note: For fire, smoke and CO devices, follow your central station's rules and local code.
